Arrange a food delivery that reaches the right door
A delivery can save a shopping trip, provided the address, timing and storage all work.

Confirm that the service reaches the cottage
Check delivery availability using the actual property details through the retailer's current system. Do not rely on coverage of the nearest village or a general statement that the area is served. If the address is unusual, ask the owner how deliveries normally find it.
Include concise directions that help identify the correct entrance, within the retailer's allowed instructions. Avoid sharing access codes or private information that is not necessary. A contact number is useful only if you can receive the call at the property.
Ask whether the cottage permits deliveries before arranging one. The owner may have specific guidance about access, shared gates or where a vehicle can stop.
Choose the timing with a margin
Where several cottages share an address, use the unit name consistently on the order and be ready to meet the driver at the agreed entrance. Do not ask a driver to search private parts of the site. If a delivery service cannot accommodate the address reliably, collecting an order on the journey may be a more practical alternative, subject to suitable food transport.
Book a slot after you expect to have checked in, allowing for travel delays. Do not assume the owner or cleaner can receive groceries unless that has been explicitly agreed.
If the retailer gives a broad window, make sure someone can remain available for it. Planning an outing at the same time creates a problem that a delivery was meant to remove.
Know how to change or cancel the order through the retailer if your journey changes. Keep the relevant details accessible rather than trying to reconstruct the order from memory on the road.
Order for the available space
Establish fridge and freezer capacity before buying a week's worth of bulky food. A compact cottage kitchen may be easier to manage with a moderate first order and a later top-up.
Plan around a few likely meals rather than every possible appetite. Check substitutions carefully, especially where someone has dietary requirements, and follow the retailer's process for accepting or rejecting items.
Consider the equipment too. Ingredients for a large roast are less useful if the oven and tray size have not been confirmed.
Receive and put away
Have a clear route from the door to the kitchen and appropriate storage ready. Check the order promptly and put chilled or frozen items away according to their requirements.
Keep packaging manageable and use the cottage's waste instructions. Do not leave bags in a shared entrance or assume unwanted items can remain for future guests.
If the driver cannot locate the property, give clear directions from a known point while staying safe and respecting neighbours. The owner may be able to clarify, but should not be treated as the default delivery coordinator.
A successful delivery is deliberately unremarkable: it arrives when you are there, fits the kitchen and lets the holiday continue without a supermarket detour.
